Independent SchoolsIndependent Schools, The 162A Inspection Framework and SIEF
In January 2007 the inspection Framework for Independent Schools was amended, placing a far greater responsibility on Proprietors and Senior Managers to accurately self evaluate their provision and evidence the progress that pupils make.
CiE have an established track record of working successfully with Independent Special Schools and Children’s Homes with Education. We can evidence that our work in this field has improved provision, enabled Proprietors to more effectively market their setting and when required, intervene to help a provision address inadequate judgment’s recorded within inspection reports.
Settings now have to submit School Information and Evaluation Forms which not only request an analysis of the degree to which Independent Regulations are met but also an evaluation of the quality of provision within each of the Seven Standards as outlined below: -
- The quality of Education provided by the School.
The quality of the Curriculum.
The quality of Teaching and Assessment.
Pupils’ progress in Learning.
- The Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Development of pupils.
- The Welfare Health and Safety of Pupils.
- The suitability of the proprietor and Staff.
- The school’s premises and accommodation.
- The provision of information for parents, carers and others.
- The procedures for handling complaints.
The inspection framework now not only judges provision, but also how accurately Senior Leadership Teams have evaluated the work of the school. We believe that we are well placed to support self evaluation, identify strengths and ensure that Development Plans clearly impact upon pupil learning and show an ongoing capacity for the school to improve.
Our website outlines the work that we undertake and we would be delighted to speak to colleagues within the Independent Sector if they feel we would be able to add value to the provision they already have.
