Target Setting For Pupils With SEN

With legislation no longer permitting maintained schools to set zero targets and with the increased use of P levels and other commercially purchasable frameworks, Concepts in Education are available to provide valuable guidance and support in relation to tracking, assessing and target setting for pupils with SEN.

Pupils operating below Level 2 make particular demands of colleagues in mainstream settings. The following information provides an outline of the work that we can undertake either with individual schools, as part of SENCO cluster groups or working alongside Local Education Authorities with specific groups of schools.

We aim to offer practical assistance in relation to:

Determining starting points and setting meaningful targets.

Reviewing Individual Education Plans so as to improve teaching and learning.

How to identify and assess in small steps.

The production of value added information to evidence progress and measure performance.

The effective use of the P Scales, resetting targets and Individual Education Plans and the use of ICT options for Data management.

The work is directed at improving the provision a school affords for those pupils who are operating at below Level 2 of the National Curriculum.

The courses outlined are based upon our experience of working with Local Education Authorities and schools. However, it is possible to mix and match aspects of courses in order to meet the individual needs of a provision.

Please contact us to arrange a scoping meeting.
